Hang Loose Santa Catarina Pro is Underway
The finest field of competitive surfing talent has gathered at Imbituba in Santa Catarina, Brazil to work towards their goal of an ASP World Title and the ocean turned on for the beginning of the waiting period, allowing the top 45 to do battle under the traditional ASP World Tour format. With rounds one and two in the record books, the reigning event champion Bede Durbidge, 26, is still standing alongside current ratings leader Joel Parkinson, 28, and nine-time ASP World Champ Kelly Slater, 37, amongst others. Rip Curl Unveils Search Site
Rip Curl International has officially announced that the coastal town of Peniche, Portugal, will host this year’s Rip Curl Pro Search, Stop No. 9 of 10 on the 2009 ASP World Tour – to be held October 19 to 30.The location has been a mystery to most all season, but this week’s official press launch in the Portuguese capital of Lisbon unveiled the secret to media and the surfing industry. With a history of mind-blowing events since acquiring the ASP Dream Tour’s only truly mobile permit, who knows what will unfold in Portugal.

Mr. Price Pro: Victory at Sea
The troopers that make up the ASP WQS are currently getting a taste of some wild conditions at the ASP 6-Star Mr. Price Pro Ballito and after the event was forced to a halt by threatening surf and weather, the event is back on and has completed the first 16 heats of the Round of 144. It looks as if the swell is going to continue to pound the South African coastline, so you’ll want to see who claims the points towards their ticket for next year’s World Tour.
ASP WQS Update: The Situation Room
The lady campaigners on the ASP WQS were forced in to a tough situation when the unsafe conditions brought about at the Mr. Price Pro made a finish to their event impossible. The girls on The Grind were forced to split the prize purse and ratings points and will have to wait to the next event to make up ground on their path to the ASP Women’s World Tour.
